Anasazi beans take their name from the tribe that first cultivated them in New Mexico, thousands of years ago. Unsubstantiated sources say archaeologists in the 1950s rediscovered some 750-year-old beans in a clay pot amidst ancient ruins and were still able to sprout them!
This attractive purple-red and white bean cooks in about 2/3 the time of an ordinary pinto bean to a creamy even pink. It has a sweet, mild to full flavor with a mealy texture that is perfect for any Mexican, Latin American or Native American dish.
About Adobe Milling Co.
Adobe Milling was started in 1983 given their proximity to the "Pinto Bean Capital of the World" beggining with just beans and slowly adding other tasty Southwestern delights to create a full line of products available today. Located in the archaeological center of the U.S., between the Grand Canyon and Grand Junction in Western Colorado the mill is situated on a beautiful agricultural plateau; once the home to thousands of Anasazi Indians who lived in the region for centuries - cultivating corn, squash, beans, and built spectacular cities at Hovenweep, Chaco Canyon, and Mesa Verde. Today the area still thrives with amazing farmland, hunting, and fishing.
